Guests who loved the Tarn’s golf courses
As our bed and breakfast and holiday rentals are located near a number of golf courses in Tarn, we often welcome golfers who are constantly on the lookout for new courses. And some of these guests have been kind enough to leave their comments on the Castres, Mazamet, Lavaur and Albi golf courses.
“In Castres, the Gourjade golf course is very interesting, with technical subtleties”
9 kilometres from Le Castelet, Gourjade in Castres is a technical 9-hole golf course with 40 driving ranges. Although there isn’t an 18-hole course, our guests were pleasantly surprised by the number of possibilities thanks to the two flags in each hole. "For a golf course this size, the putting greens are beautiful, large and impeccably well-kept," noted Mr. H.
“A warm welcome and a beautiful setting.”
At the Mazamet La Barouge golf course, meanwhile, golfers can play in a magnificent setting, with fairways surrounded by over one hundred kinds of trees. It’s less than 19 kilometres from our guest house and although our guests didn’t find the course particularly difficult, its gently undulating 18-hole course more than made up for this!
The most challenging course is the Etangs de Fiac in Lavaur. A 40-minute drive from our guesthouse, this 18-hole course is surrounded by 12 ponds, which present a technical challenge – much to the delight of the more proficient golfers. “As there’s no dropping zone, you either have to be a great golfer or have a lot of balls!” says Claude.
“A magical golf course…”
The 18 holes and 23 driving ranges of the Albi golf course are very appealing. Whilst you wait for your partner to finish swinging their 7 iron, you can admire Sainte-Cécile’s Cathedral, which looms majestically over the course.
